John Plotts currently serves as the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF)’s Senior Vice Chancellor of Finance and Administration. He came to UCSF in January 2010 after having spent 14 years at University of California’s Office of the President where he was Assistant Vice President for Financial Management interacting with UC’s campuses and medical centers on financial and administrative matters involving a systemwide perspective. Prior to joining the University in 1996, he worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers and held progressively responsible positions in various financial and administrative capacities in private industry, including Senior Vice President of Administration for a large food retailer.
Mr. Plotts serves as the campus Chief Business Officer, managing a large, complex portfolio of central responsibilities at UCSF, including resource management, budget, information technology, human resources, accounting and internal controls, material management, risk management, internal audit, police, housing, transportation, childcare, Millberry Union programs, capital planning, capital projects and facilities management.
The Senior Vice Chancellor is responsible for the planning, design and construction of new buildings, including those at Mission Bay, and for creating and funding their capital and operating budgets. He plays a significant role in campus governance as a member of the Chancellor Executive Cabinet and Leadership Operations Group. He also serves in a leadership role as chair of the Audit Committee, Capital Programs Management Committee, Executive Compensation Committee and Chancellor’s Advisory Committee on Sustainability. Mr. Plotts holds a BS in Business Administration and is a Certified Public Accountant.
