Award for the Advancement of Women
Award Description
This award recognizes exceptional efforts toward the advancement of women at UCSF beyond the scope of an individual's job, area of research, or student training. Each year three individuals are selected—one faculty, one staff, one student/resident/postdoctoral scholar—and both women and men are eligible to receive this award.
Eligibility Requirements for Nomination
Nominees must meet the following eligibility requirements:

Be a UCSF academic or staff employee (with a minimum 50% appointment), or a student, a resident, or a postdoctoral scholar at the time of nomination (questions regarding academic status, employment, and enrollment eligibility can be answered by Human Resources or Student Academic Affairs prior to submitting a nomination).

Have not previously received the award.

Have exhibited and sustained efforts toward the advancement of women at UCSF as delineated below by the applicable "Selection Criteria.”
Selection Criteria
Nominees will be evaluated per the following criteria:

Women’s Status—demonstrates ability and dedication to elevating the status of women within the campus community

Campus Policy—demonstrates ongoing commitment to improving campus policies affecting women

Advancement—demonstrates advancing the admission, recruitment, and upward mobility of women at UCSF

Mentorship—demonstrates ongoing participation in career and academic mentoring for women
-
Teamwork and Collaboration—demonstrates acute ability to work with individuals and bring together colleagues to achieve goals and purposes that support the University’s strategic plan and priorities, and incorporate women’s unique perspectives

Climate—demonstrates commitment to generating and providing a workplace culture that supports women’s work/life balance and maintains a climate in which women are respected, free of bias, discrimination, and harassment

Women’s Health—demonstrates personal achievement in generating and disseminating knowledge on women's health through research, teaching, and public presentations
Required Nomination Materials
Please submit a nomination packet either electronically or in hard copy containing the following documents:

The completed nomination form with appropriate seconds and signatures.

A descriptive summary written by the nominator about the nominee's qualifications as related to the applicable “Selection Criteria” (specific examples per each criterion recommended). Please note: Only four pages maximum, submitted in letter format, will be accepted.

Two supporting letters written by the seconds attesting to the nominee’s contributions. Please note: Only two supporting letters, each limited to two pages maximum, will be accepted.
